Drone Training
Drone Training Offerings Through, or Separate to, the Indigenous Mapping Australia Program
We proudly offer drone training through our Indigenous Mapping Workshop Australia (IMW) program.
These specialised classes focus on empowering Indigenous communities and organisations with the knowledge and skills needed to integrate drone technology into their mapping and land management practices. Our training emphasises culturally sensitive approaches to mapping, ensuring that participants can effectively utilise drones to preserve and enhance their Country. By combining technical expertise with a deep respect for Indigenous knowledge, the IMW Drone Training contributes to the sustainable use of technology in a manner that aligns with the values and needs of Indigenous communities.

Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) Training
If you are looking to operate a drone for commercial purposes in Australia, you will need to have your Remote Pilot Licence (RePL). We offer RePL that will provide you the necessary knowledge and skills to safely and legally operate drones. Having your RePL means that in relation to your work purposes, you are able to:
Create aerial photography and videography for commercial purposes.
Conduct surveying and mapping.
Undertake search and rescue operations.
Carry out inspections of infrastructure such as buildings, bridges and power lines.
Engage in agricultural drone flying, i.e. mapping Country.
Remote Operators Certificate (ReOC) Training
Already have your RePL and are looking to plan your own job and manage missions? We can help you gain a Remote Operators Certificate (ReOC). Having your ReOC for your work purposes means you are able to:
Operate within regulatory frameworks.
Operate larger drones.
Access restricted areas with the necessary permission and approvals.
Provide drone services professionally.
Commercial Consulting on Drone Choice
Australia’s Indigenous land estate is vast and the work required to maintain a healthy Country is constant. For this reason alone, drones are a worthwhile tool to have in any land manager’s toolkit. Nowadays, there’s no shortage of choice—which is great once you know what you’re looking for.
However, if you are navigating the unfamiliar territory of buying a drone for the first time, too many options can leave you feeling stuck. With guidance from our Chief Drone Pilot, Grady, we’ve developed a comprehensive guide of things you’ll want to consider before buying a drone for Indigenous land management.
